Nel primo episodio, “The Prisoner”, un noto attore (Gary) è prigioniero del suo esuberante produttore (Margaret) all’interno di una casa controllata da mille congegni tecnologici. La vicina (Sarah) cerca di rendere edotto Gary di quell’incredibile situazione. Nel secondo episodio, “Reality television”, Gary è autore della puntata pilota di una serie tv prodotta da Sarah. Alcune indagini di mercato inducono Sarah e Gary a liberarsi dell’amica/collaboratrice Margaret. Nel terzo episodio, “Knowing”, i coniugi Gary e Margaret hanno un incidente d’auto lungo una strada di montagna. Mentre Gary va alla ricerca d’aiuto, la piccola Elle – guardando una videoregistrazione – scopre, insieme alla mamma, la vera identità del padre. Lo stesso succede a Gary nei confronti di se stesso, dopo aver incontrato per strada la misteriosa Sarah.
